Israeli warplane drops bombs in northern Gaza, injuring two Palestinians

Israeli forces carried out airstrikes in northern Gaza on Sunday, a day after a ‘ceasefire’ was declared between Israel and the Palestinian Authority governed by Hamas in the Gaza Strip.

The airstrikes targeted a group of Palestinians who were making kites in an open area in northern Gaza. According to local eyewitnesses, the Palestinians who were targeted had been attaching flaming objects to the kites and sending them floating toward Israel, across the Gaza-Israel border.

According to Israeli media sources, the floating of kites bearing flames have started a number of fires on Israeli agricultural land in recent weeks. But local sources say that dry conditions are contributing to the fires, and the ‘incendiary kites’ are unlikely to be the sole source of conflagration.

Israeli airstrikes killed two Palestinian children on Saturday, just a day after Israeli gunfire killed two unarmed demonstrators at ‘Great Return March’ protests at the Gaza-Israel border.

There have been at least 137 Palestinians killed, and more than 17,000 injured, since the ‘Great Return March’ protests began on March 30th, 2018.
