Fort Indiantown Gap unit prepares to depart for overseas mission in Middle East - PennLive

Prior to their 10-month overseas mission in the Middle East, 31 individuals were honored at Fort Indiantown Gap on Saturday.

The 213th Personnel Company, headquartered at Fort Indiantown Gap, will provide human resources assistance to other service members who are supporting three operations. Enduring Freedom, Freedom Sentinel, and Inherent Resolve are ongoing operations supported by the U.S. military in the Middle East.

"Thank you to our Pa. National Guard members and their families for their service and sacrifice especially as these 31 individuals prepare to deploy during the holiday season,” said Gov. Tom Wolf. "Your selfless action does not go unnoticed or unappreciated. Frances and I and all Pennsylvanians wish you a safe and successful deployment and we look forward to welcoming you back home.”

Following the holidays, the unit will spend a short time at a stateside mobilization site before assuming its 10-month mission overseas.

They will divide into three detachments to support the three operations. The operations are designed to maintain a U.S. military presence throughout the Middle East.

"We are proud of how hard you have trained for this deployment to join and support your fellow soldiers currently serving overseas,” said Maj. Anthony Carrelli, Pennsylvania’s adjutant general and head of Pennsylvania’s Department of Military and Veterans Affairs. “All of Pennsylvania is thankful to you and your families for the sacrifice you are making to help keep America free and safe. You can rest assured that we will look after your families while you are deployed and that we already look forward to your safe return home.”
