Hunger Strike Continues For 28th Day

Approximately 1800 Palestinian detainees in Israeli prisons, continue the “Freedom and Dignity” hunger strike, which the 28 days ago, while Israel continues to ignore their legitimate demands and its Prison Authority is refusing to hold any direct talks with them.

The National Committee for Supporting the Hunger Strike has reported that some Israeli prison officials indicated there are “willing to discuss” the demands of the detainees, to fragment the detainees and split their unity.

It added that the detainees refuse any form of talks with any prison official, and remain steadfast that such talks should be official, and must be done with the detained leaders of the strike, including legislator Marwan Barghouthi, and Secretary-General of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, legislator Ahmad Saadat.

The committee stated that the detainees will not allow Israel to divide them, and engage in separate talks, without actually listening to their collective demands.

On the ground, protests and solidarity activities are ongoing in several parts of occupied Palestine, as well as Arab and international countries.

On Friday, the soldiers killed a young man, identified as Saba’ Obeid, 22, during a protest in solidarity with the detainees, in Nabi Saleh village, northwest of Ramallah in the occupied West Bank.
