Accenture Middle East has launched a new innovation hub in Dubai aimed at developing smart solutions for the local tourism industry.
The Middle East branch of tech-minded professional services firm Accenture has launched a new tourism innovation hub in Dubai – the firm’s first such hub in the region. Designed as an immersive environment to showcase the latest in emerging technologies, including in areas such as artificial intelligence, the internet of things, and extended reality, the new hub will serve as a collaborative platform for uncovering smart and scalable tourism sector solutions.
“Attracting more than 60 million visitors annually, the Middle East has become a key market for the tourism industry,” said Norberto Cibien, Accenture’s Products lead for the Middle East & Turkey. “Millions of people will visit Expo 2020 Dubai, and with 70 per cent expected to come from abroad, it’s critical to develop a seamless travel experience, which requires bridging disconnected ecosystem players and catering to unique and evolving customer needs.”
Located at Dubai Media City, the Dubai Tourism Innovation Hub will host industry-focused demos, co-creation sessions, prototyping, and a startup showcase, with Accenture having recently collaborated on Dubai Tourism’s Futurism start-up accelerator – an initiative aimed at bringing about “a paradigm shift within the industry ecosystem” through innovation in areas such as hyper personalisation, ‘phygital’ experience, and connected and conscious travel.
Present at the launch alongside dignitaries from the UAE’s Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing, the establishment of a tourism-focused innovation hub was flagged by regional managing partner Alexis Lecanuet in an interview with Consultancy-me.com last year, and is Accenture’s first such hub to launch in the Middle East & North Africa region – joining an extensive, connected network of more than 100 Accenture locations around the globe.
According to the firm, local clients and partners will be able to tap into Accenture’s global industry knowledge to move from vision to fast execution, with the firm also noting that the Dubai Tourism Innovation Hub sits at the center of its regional Innovation Architecture offerings – including Accenture Studios, Accenture Ventures, and Accenture Research, the latter which combines industry knowledge and advanced research to uncover business insights and trends.
